S001-2010 Extreme-Severe Fire Danger Rating Warning
Main Points
· The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and CFA have advised that we are entering a period of hot dry weather with fire danger increasingly significantly over the weekend and peaking early next week. At this time, it is most likely regions in the west of Victoria which will be affected on Monday and the Northeast on Tuesday.
and this.....
The CFA has advised me that there is likely to be a severe fire danger rating for the Mallee and Northern Country Bureau of Meteorology Districts for Monday 11 January 2010.
This fire danger rating covers the following local government areas: Rural City of Mildura, Swan Hill Rural City, Buloke Shire, Gannawarra Shire, Campaspe Shire, Central Goldfields Shire, Loddon Shire, and City of Greater Bendigo.
There is a distinct possibility of this rating being upgraded to Extreme or Code Red for Monday 11 January 2010.
Meanwhile, my friend in Somerset UK has sent me these photos

I would rather be in the snow. If nothing else you could go to bed with a hottie and a pile of quilts.
ReplyDeleteInstead of having to climb on the roof to clean dead leaves out the gutters every few days, and worry about the garden dying, and if there is a fire then my house is a goner for all sorts of reasons. 5 thousand acres of tinder dry bush being the first, and not enough water being the last.
You can always put on another layer when it is cold but there is a legal and aesthetic limit to what one can take off when it is this hot...
Global warming is a weird beastie!
